Tried & tested by our Customer Service Advisor daughter Maisy, here's her review of the Woof Wear Pro Tendon and Fetlock Boots.

Review of woof wear tendon bootsWho/what is it for?

These are for my daughter’s new horse, Mac. We wanted all round protection for when we are show jumping, both in competition and training.

Initial thoughts on the product

Not only do these boots look great, but they are very smart and neat too. They are easy to fit and the Velcro is extremely strong. I wouldn’t feel worried about them moving or becoming loose when jumping.

Likes

These boots come in two colours, black and white. I chose the black as these are a more practical colour for our use and ideal for both training and competition. The white would be perfect if you wanted just a competition boot. There is a great strike guard down the back of the tendon boots, this is really solid which indicates they will protect well. The boots fit effectively to the horses’ legs by moulding and gripping on. Due to the fit, it is important that at application, you open the boot fully before placing on the leg. At first glance, the boots appear long but, upon fitting they were a good length and when in use, they didn’t slip or move.

The boots are lightweight and easy to wash down. When hosed down with cold water everything wiped off easily and the boots were quick to dry even when left outside. As expected, the boots did not seem to heat up the horses’ legs, however it would be interesting to review this again in the warmer weather when the horses summer coat sets in, and the temperatures are higher.

Dislikes

Mac is an ISH X Connie with fairly thick legs and is wearing a L/XL. In my opinion these Woof Wear Pro tendon and fetlock boots wouldn’t fit a horse with any thicker bone than him and therefore, may not be suitable for all horse breeds. The fetlock boots are deep on the inside and shallow on the outside making them look off balance, even though they are not. Although this design is not too kind on the eye, it does conform with British Show jumping and FEI young horse class regulations. To make the boots more aesthetically pleasing, you must be quite attentive in evenly spacing out the straps ensuring they are not angled. This means they are not the quickest to put on.

Would you recommend the product?

Yes, definitely not a brand I would normally go straight to but I have easily been converted.

Would you continue to use the product?

Yes, we will use these and would buy again for our other horse.

Is the price point fair?

Yes, I would say a good mid-range boot.

Was it comfortable/warm/waterproof – etc?

Yes, very comfortable and easy to fit.  Easy to wash and wipe down before competitions.  Photos don’t really do these boots justice as our horse currently has very hairy legs.
