Fleeces, coolers and stable sheets are some of the most useful layers on the yard. They can help a warm or wet horse cool and dry gradually, provide light warmth while travelling or waiting between classes, and keep a clean coat protected before an event.

Coolers and Drying Rugs

Coolers and drying rugs are designed to remove moisture away from the coat while allowing it to evaporate. They are particularly useful after exercise, bathing or getting caught in the rain. Technical fabrics, mesh panels and wicking linings suit different seasons and drying needs, so consider how quickly your horse gets hot and where the rug will be used.

Fleece Rugs

A fleece rug offers breathable warmth and versatility. Use one after light work, while travelling, at shows or as a supervised layer on a cool day. Fleeces vary in thickness and fit, so choose enough coverage to keep large muscle groups comfortable without leaving a horse sweaty beneath the fabric.

Stable Sheets

Stable sheets provide a lightweight layer with little or no insulation. They are useful for keeping dust and bedding off a clean coat, covering a horse after grooming or providing light protection during travel. As they are not designed for wet turnout, switch to a waterproof rug before going outside in the rain.
