Also referred to as a continental bit, this bit functions by elevating the bit in the horse's mouth, similar to a traditional gag, but with less severity. The reins can be attached to the snaffle ring or the lower ring for increased poll pressure and leverage. Additionally, two reins or rounding's can be used, attached to a single rein, allowing for the maintenance of correct contact on the snaffle ring without poll pressure when necessary. An anatomical copper lozenge positioned in the center helps evenly distribute pressure over both the tongue and bars of the mouth, while also encouraging mouthing and contact. The warm copper metal promotes salivation and mouthing on the bit, making it an ideal choice for horses requiring extra braking power during jumping or fast work.
