Ways to measure for a bit.

  1. Measure the horse’s bit that you are currently using, to do this measure the length of the mouthpiece from the inside edge to the opposite inside edge.
  2. If you are measuring your horses’ mouth for the first time to determine the length of bit that they need you can do this with a piece of string marking spots on the string then measuring against a ruler, fabric tape, etc if your horse will cooperate.
  3. Once you have the length of bit that you need you might need to add ¼ to ½ to the length depending on what bit your selecting
