Ways to measure for a bit.
- Measure the horse’s bit that you are currently using, to do this measure the length of the mouthpiece from the inside edge to the opposite inside edge.
- If you are measuring your horses’ mouth for the first time to determine the length of bit that they need you can do this with a piece of string marking spots on the string then measuring against a ruler, fabric tape, etc if your horse will cooperate.
- Once you have the length of bit that you need you might need to add ¼ to ½ to the length depending on what bit your selecting
