Premier Equine Three Ring Dutch Gag with Copper Lozenge Bit

Also known as a Continental bit, the Premier Equine Three Ring Dutch Gag with Copper Lozenge works in a similar way to a traditional gag without the same severity., raising the bit in the horse’s mouth. Reins can be used on each of the three rings, with the lowest two significantly increasing the poll pressure applied. For this reason, it is advised that two reins or rounding’s attached to a single rein are used when using them, ensuring the correct contact can be maintained on the snaffle ring without exerting excessive poll pressure when it is not needed. The double-jointed Copper Lozenge mouthpiece ensures pressure is evenly distributed across the tongue and bars of the mouth, avoiding the nutcracker effect found with single jointed alternatives. The warming sensation of the copper also aids in acceptance and salivation while the Stainless Steel used on the remainder of the bit keeps it rust free and easy to clean.

Ways to measure for a bit.

  1. Measure the horse’s bit that you are currently using, to do this measure the length of the mouthpiece from the inside edge to the opposite inside edge.
  2. If you are measuring your horses’ mouth for the first time to determine the length of bit that they need you can do this with a piece of string marking spots on the string then measuring against a ruler, fabric tape, etc if your horse will cooperate.
  3. Once you have the length of bit that you need you might need to add ¼ to ½ to the length depending on what bit your selecting

Measurements are approximate.
