Premier Equine Rubber Three Ring Dutch Gag with Lozenge Bit
A three ring Dutch gag is designed with four rings, but only three are used for attaching the reins, hence its name. The top ring is attached to the cheek pieces of the bridle, and the reins can be attached to any of the three lower rings to provide various leverage options. Also referred to as a continental bit, it functions by elevating the bit in the horse's mouth similarly to a traditional gag, but with less severity. When using the reins on the lower rings, there is a significant increase in poll pressure, which is why we recommend using two reins or attaching rounding's to a single rein. This ensures that proper contact can be maintained on the snaffle ring without poll pressure when necessary. The rubber mouthpiece softens the action of this bit, and the copper lozenge encourages the horse to accept the bit while reducing the nutcracker action of a single jointed bit. It can be a suitable choice for riders seeking extra control during jumping or fast work.
