Premier Equine Brass Alloy Tom Thumb with Waterford Mouth Bit
The Tom Thumb bit combines elements of an American gag and an elevator bit, offering precise control. It is highly favored in show jumping and cross country for its front lifting effect, which helps riders position their horses back on their hocks for tighter turns and more efficient jumping. The uplifting action, combined with poll pressure, also discourages horses from leaning on the bit. The Waterford mouthpiece consists of a series of ball-shaped links, allowing complete movement in all directions. This design is particularly effective in addressing issues such as leaning, grabbing the bit, and jaw setting. The brass alloy is ideal for horse bits as it can aid in salivation and be more palatable to the horse. The combination of the Waterford mouthpiece and the action of the Tom Thumb bit results in a strong effect, making it suitable only for experienced riders. For optimal effectiveness, it should be worn 1/4" to 1/2" wider than standard.
