Premier Equine Brass Alloy Tom Thumb with Lozenge Bit
The Tom Thumb bit combines features of an American gag and an elevator bit, offering enhanced precision and control. This popular choice for show jumping and cross country provides a lifting effect in front, helping the rider sit the horse back on its hocks for tighter turns and more efficient jumping. The uplifting action, along with poll pressure, can discourage horses from leaning on the bit. It can be used with one rein on either the snaffle ring or the lower ring, or with two reins for increased precision. The central lozenge of this bit contours the shape of the tongue, reducing the nutcracker action of a single-jointed bit and allowing for soft contact, enabling clear aids to be communicated down the reins. This bit is especially useful for horses that tend to lean against the rider's hands.
