Who/what is it for?

I got this for my 9hh Shetland Pony, Nugget. It’s the same great quality you would expect from the Horseware Amigo range only, Mini.

Initial thoughts on the product 

It’s a great looking little rug and the quality stood out straight away. It’s made to last and well made; there was none of the annoying loose threads where things have been attached like you find on so many rugs these days.

Likes 

The fit of this rug is second to none, it isn’t too tight therefore I’m confident it won’t rub on Nugget’s shoulders, plus it allows him plenty of movement but isn’t so loose that it will slip either. Its also a good thickness so even on the hotter days I’m positive he will stay cool and protected. I also really like that it has a detachable neck, its not something I have looked for in a fly rug before, but I think being able to use the rug neckless will be another great way of being able to keep him protected but still cool with his big Shetland mane. Again, the quality of the rug is so good, and I’m convinced it will last, which really makes it worth the price and it’s excellent that they are available so small when other brands often stop in the bigger sizes.  

Dislikes 

It’s honestly very hard to pick fault with the rug, I’m a big fan! But if I had to choose something to change it would be the fillet string. I’m not a huge fan of the simple nylon straps and find that they get dirty and aren’t as hard wearing as the silicone covered options offered by other brands. The string on this rug is slightly long too and once tied to the correct length for Nugget did leave quite a bit of extra material.

Would you recommend the product?

Yes, I would 100% recommend he product if you were looking for a quality rug for the smaller equine.

Would you continue to use the product?

Yes, I will keep using the product for the rest of the summer and beyond.

Is the price point fair?

I think the price is fair. Although you can pick up fly rugs cheaper than this, I would say that the rug you get for the price, makes it worth spending the extra.

Was it comfortable/warm/waterproof – etc?

Nugget seems to think its very comfortable, it’s light and cool and he has no complaints.
